High Tide

We had a really high tide (11.55) a few mornings ago after a night of really strong winds. You can see from the picture that we were pretty much in ‘the splash zone ‘ walking along the beachfront. We thought it was cold then but the temperature never got out of the 30s today and I’m not sure it will tomorrow either…….brrr! It has at least been sunny so as long as I stay inside I can kid myself that it’s not freezing out there – poor Taryn is going to need thermal underwear when she gets here next week ; (
David is gone for the weekend so I’m getting the place to myself for only about the third time since we moved in and I’m celebrating by having a friend come over and stay. I am SO ready for a girls weekend! Hopefully the weather will be decent enough for us to get outside a bit but if not, we HAVE been known to spend hours talking, drinking, laughing and eating ( not necessarily in that order ) before now ; )

11/21 update
– even higher tides on their way – of 12.03 at 12:45 pm followed by a 9.75 at 2:26 am on Tuesday and a 12.2 high tide on Tuesday at 1:26pm. Couple that with the extreme wind advisory we just got and I’m thinking the splash zone along the waterfront is going to get a LOT bigger very soon!! I can see the waves hitting Alki Point from my windows but I doubt I’ll get out there today – too busy making cranberry sauce and doing other prep work while I wait for David to make it back here so that we can get to the food store for the big shop so that I can get most things taken care of before the kids arrive. But hey, at least it wasn’t still in the 20s when I got up this morning………..and no, that wasn’t just because of how late I got up ; )

About girlonahandcycle

Natural Brit/Naturalized American wife, mom, grandma and all around old broad still happily ignoring my MS (since 1985 - ha!). Every time it slows me down I find a way to speed back up which explains my very cool Tilite wheelchair and Top End handcycle ..........also my ripped arms ; ) Don't get back to the homeland or to other cool places quite as easily or often as I'd like anymore so theoretically my rambling here keeps me a little more connected to far away friends and family.
