New Year’s Eve 2011

OK so David is home and not going back on short call until the morning so we’ll get to see the new year in together. We COULD go and watch the Space Needle fireworks across Elliott Bay at midnight  from Alki Beach but I’m not holding my breath since Mr Party Animal here might well prefer to watch them on TV from the comfort of his bed and I probably WON’T roll the mile down there by myself that late at night – see what old age does to me??! hahaha ; ) Chelsea and Rich are dressing up and hitting the town with good friends at a swanky Seattle restaurant tonight and Taryn and David are beating the rest of us to it by celebrating in Edinburgh just minutes from now!

Obviously for us moving to West Seattle was the big event of our year but lots has been going on apart from that. The most recent new arrival in the family put in his appearance just 2 days ago – welcome to the world Dennis! There were 2 family engagements within the last month or so – congrats to David and Caroline and Elle and Ben. Add to that the expected arrival of Tara & Adam’s bundle of joy in the middle of next year and I would say our family has been pretty busy. Chelsea and Rich moved twice this year but the second time was only by one floor! Taryn went from Manhattan to Florida and went back to school plus she added a UK citizenship to the mix. We were lucky enough to all be together for a winter vacation in Hawaii and Thanksgiving in our new house. It all went way too quickly as always but it was another year full of good things and we leave it healthy and happy and in ( by which she means WITH ) good spirits!!

This was this morning’s sunshine on the snowy Olympics – what a way to say goodbye to 2011 ; )

About girlonahandcycle

Natural Brit/Naturalized American wife, mom, grandma and all around old broad still happily ignoring my MS (since 1985 - ha!). Every time it slows me down I find a way to speed back up which explains my very cool Tilite wheelchair and Top End handcycle ..........also my ripped arms ; ) Don't get back to the homeland or to other cool places quite as easily or often as I'd like anymore so theoretically my rambling here keeps me a little more connected to far away friends and family.
