a feast for the eyes…..

a side effect of spending yet another afternoon on the deck yesterday was that I was in exactly the right place to watch one of our local orca pods take a day trip down to my neck of the woods. They were spread out and of course a good couple of miles out in the channel but you could see them with the naked eye although through my spotting scope they were just wonderful. Lots of tail slapping, breaching, blowing and all around frolicking for about 2 1/2 hours as they slowly headed south. Here’s my one snap that I left the scope long enough to take – you can see one orcas dorsal fin to the left, followed by 2 collections from the West Seattle Blog

West Seattle Whale Watch: Orca photos, round 1.

West Seattle Whale Watch: Sunset orcas, photo round 2.

and if that wasn’t enough cool stuff to see for one day take a look at this 😉

Northern Lights from West Seattle: Aurora visible on Alki.

About girlonahandcycle

Natural Brit/Naturalized American wife, mom, grandma and all around old broad still happily ignoring my MS (since 1985 - ha!). Every time it slows me down I find a way to speed back up which explains my very cool Tilite wheelchair and Top End handcycle ..........also my ripped arms ; ) Don't get back to the homeland or to other cool places quite as easily or often as I'd like anymore so theoretically my rambling here keeps me a little more connected to far away friends and family.
