You know our holiday decorating used to start a LOT earlier when the girls still lived at home. There was a time I’d have had all the lights up, the decorations out and Xmas music playing from the moment we got back from Thanksgiving dinner at our neighbours. The tree of course was never up until Taryn chose it on her birthday but last year we finally caved and got a fake one which we COULD put up anytime…….. but of course we haven’t yet.
David got the outdoor lights wrapped around the railing on the upper deck right before he left for Miami on Tuesday but then he couldn’t get one section to work so that had to wait until he got home (a whole day earlier than he was supposed to……..eek!!). Yesterday they were all working but since we couldn’t find the instructions on how the timer worked that took a while to sort out but now they’re taken care of AND we had the present of a fresh wreath arrive yesterday so that’s up too. I even did some of my Xmas shopping for the folks back home online so there’s still a chance that I may get everything done in time! Taryn won’t fly in until 19th at the earliest so as long as the tree is up and the music’s playing by then we’re good. Oh Taryn you KNOW you’d miss that music! 😉
I’ve even temporarily switched to making cranberry cosmopolitans for happy hour. Yes, PARTLY because we have so many leftover cranberries from Thanksgiving but hey, they look considerably more festive than a gin martini so I’m going with it.
