I should be more careful what I wish for!

really…….you’d think I’d know that by now, huh??
So today, I was on the bike trainer…..39 minutes in and Robert Palmer is just finishing up his thing through my headphones. Normally I do 10 songs but the rule is that if it hasn’t passed the 40 minute mark at the end of the 10th one then I do one more – I know, glutton for punishment 😉 So, it’s been a great workout, Robert Palmer is a great tempo to pedal to ( hmmm, is it still pedal when you use your hands??) and I need to keep the cadence going for the last slog so I’m thinking…give me a good song, give me a good song…. I should explain I suppose that I’m listening to a workout playlist on my iPhone set on random so although I put together the playlist I don’t know which song is coming next and since I’m on a handcycle both my hands are occupied so it would slow me down, which is what I don’t want to do, to use one of them to grab the phone, unlock it and then hit the next track. Anyway, next song starts and it’s…… Paradise City, GnR.
Great song, amazing tempo but 6 minutes 45 seconds of amazing tempo – I thought I was going to die…….. well actually throw up was probably closer to the truth. Man, no wonder Axl was so skinny back in the day! I would tell you that I work out this hard just to stay fit and healthy but the sad truth is that I have a bike computer that records all my stats and I just can’t bear to look at the figures and discover I’ve gone any slower or done less mileage than the time before….. ooh, self-induced pressure and I always complain about David being competitive!

Clearly I have earned my happy hour calorie count for the day which is really the point, right? 😉

About girlonahandcycle

Natural Brit/Naturalized American wife, mom, grandma and all around old broad still happily ignoring my MS (since 1985 - ha!). Every time it slows me down I find a way to speed back up which explains my very cool Tilite wheelchair and Top End handcycle ..........also my ripped arms ; ) Don't get back to the homeland or to other cool places quite as easily or often as I'd like anymore so theoretically my rambling here keeps me a little more connected to far away friends and family.
