So today I thought the fact that it was Election Day (yes, I got my ballot in the mail in time!), Bonfire Night back at home….
(here are the girls in England years ago with the Guy they made with LOTS of help from Grandad) and David’s one full day at home for a 10 day stretch would keep me busy enough but THEN I saw this Target ad. online
Target electronics trade-in program

Step 2: Your device will be appraised in-store at the mobility kiosk.
Step 3: $200 minimum promotional credit will be issued on a Target Trade-In Gift Card and is redeemable in any Target store.

Seems pretty straight forward doesn’t it? As the owner of an original iPad still in perfect condition this is a good deal because it’s too old to get that kind of trade in value anywhere else. David called up the local Target stores, who were all out of the new iPad Airs of course, but who confirmed the deal so off we went to get our $200 gift card.
When we got there the rep in charge of the trade ins said he’d “just” had an email from HQ saying that the deal was really only supposed to give you that much off a new iPad if they had one in stock, Otherwise they could only give us $72……..hmmmm! What difference did it make if we bought it then or 2 weeks from then?? This didn’t make sense to either of us since Target had made the deal very clear and now 2 1/2 days in they were going to change the rules???
We didn’t think that sounded like something they could do and even the rep agreed that the trade in offer had been clear, we had called to check it first and really it just wasn’t right.
So, Boo to Target HQ but Yay to their customer service people since the man said he was going to do what he thought was right and gave us the $200 gift card. They should give him a raise because now we’ll go back and buy the new one from him because he was a fair and decent guy. 😉
