David has been home for a few days so the tree is up and decorated, the outside lights are done and the evergreen garland is wrapped around the stair rail. When he’s not here there’s xmas music playing too but after all these years I do know his limitations (of which there are many – ha!) 😉
Yesterday we had to skip the neighbourhood holiday get together in order to see our granddaughter sit on Santa’s lap for the first time……..except that the long line all of us envisioned late on a Sunday afternoon actually wasn’t there because the Seahawks/Eagles game was still going on (of course we won!!) so by the time we made it to Santa’s little hut someone had long since had her photo taken and had moved on to more exciting things like dinner!!
Deduct 1000 good grandparent points and do not pass Go or collect $200!!!!!
Next year believe me, we’ll be early!
But…. we did get to have dinner with everyone and dinner with a 6 month old is lots of crazy fun if you can manage to keep hold of your wine and your food 🙂 One of David’s college buddies was passing through town unexpectedly so we picked him up on the way and dragged him along to dinner with the rest of us. He happened to be staying at the local Sheraton that’s famous for it’s gingerbread houses at this time of year and after we dropped him off he sent us these pictures.
“Oh good” says you know who – “now we don’t have to go there and see them in person”
Oh yes, the holiday spirit is alive and well at our house 🙂
